PK3 (pre-kindergarten) is a curriculum-based preparatory program where children spend a full day in a safe and nurturing environment. PreK3 enhances language and communication skills and supports cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.
VPK stands for the Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program. If you live in Florida, and your child turns 4 four years of age by September 1, your child is eligible to participate in Florida’s FREE Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) education program.
VPK, or Voluntary Prekindergarten, is a year of early learning that is available to all children ages 4 and 5. VPK provides children with the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment.
VPK programs vary from school to school, but they typically include a focus on literacy, math, and social-emotional development. VPK teachers are trained to provide children with the individualized attention they need to succeed.
VPK can help children develop the skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Studies have shown that children who attend VPK are more likely to be ready for kindergarten, have higher academic achievement, and be less likely to be held back in school.
If you are a parent of a child who is turning 4 or 5 this year, I encourage you to consider enrolling your child in VPK. VPK can provide your child with the foundation they need to succeed in school and in life.
Voluntary Prekindergarten or VPK gives children a jump start by preparing them for school and enhancing their pre-reading, pre-math, language, and social skills. By developing the skills children need to become strong readers and students at an early age, children are more likely to be successful in school. VPK classrooms offer high-quality programs that include high literacy standards, developmentally appropriate curricula, manageable class sizes, and qualified teachers. The school-year program includes 540 hours of instructional time and begins in August. The summer program consists of 300 instructional hours and can begin as early as May 1.
